Redlands Municipal Code
In addition to the City Council, the citizens of Redlands elect the City Clerk and City Treasurer by direct ballot. A description of each of these positions follows:
CITY COUNCIL
The City Council is the legislative body of the City of Redlands. It decides policy for the municipal government, enacts laws and oversees all activities of the City. The Council also serves as the governing body of the City of Redlands Redevelopment Agency.
The Council has significant control of the administrative function because it appoints the City Manager. It also directly appoints the City Attorney, the City's independent auditors and all board and commission members who serve as unpaid advisors to the City Council.
Regular meetings of the City Council are held on the first and third Tuesday of each month.

Running for City Council
CITY CLERK
In Redlands, the City Clerk is an elected official and is responsible directly to the voters. Deputies may be appointed by the City Clerk and shall hold office at the pleasure of the City Clerk. The City Clerk serves the City Council, the City Manager, and all administrative departments.

CITY TREASURER
The City Treasurer is an elected official and, as such, is directly accountable to the voters of Redlands. The Treasurer is responsible for collecting all fees and taxes owed to the City, keeping the funds safely invested and deposited in various financial institutions and disbursing the funds as directed by the City Council.
