The Community Development Department is managed by Oscar W. Orci who is the Community Development Director. The Community Development Director has two divisions: Planning, and Building and Safety. The Department regulates land uses, applies development standards for new and existing projects and implements the building code. The most visible functions of the Department are the processing of development projects through the Environmental Review Committee, Historic and Scenic Preservation Commission, Planning Commission, and City Council. The Community Development Department is staffed by a variety of professionals such as Planners, Building Officials, Building Inspectors, and other administrative personnel.
