Operating under the direction of the Fire Chief, and guided by the Uniform Fire Code (UFC), the goal of the Fire Prevention Division is to safeguard the community from fire through programs ensuring adherence to fire regulations, public education, and mitigation. The division consists of the Fire Marshal, one Assistant Fire Marshal, and one Administrative Assistant.
The Fire Prevention Division also oversees the Fire Explorers Program.
To ensure meeting this goal, the responsibilities of the Division include:
- Review of all Development Plans related to IFC requirements.
- Authorization of Fire Permits
- Conduct Fire Safety Inspections
- Provide PIO services for the department.
- Provide Fire Investigations for cause and origin.
