BULKY ITEM SPECIAL HAULS
The Solid Waste Division can assist you with your special waste disposal needs. Any item that does not fit into your regular solid waste container (automated, commercial bin or can), and is not considered a banned item (i.e., hazardous waste), can be collected from your curbside for disposal for a fee.
The fee for this special service is as follows: $22.00 for the first item
$11.00 for each additional item
Solid waste crews cannot go inside of a building or residence to collect special haul items. Bulky item special hauls must be scheduled in advance, with the material ready for collection on the agreed day.
Many times your waste is someone else's treasure. Before you consider disposing of it, why not try to recycle it first? The Solid Waste Division's Customer Service Representatives are happy to assist you with referral sources for hundreds of every-day household items that are recyclable. Call us at 798-7529 for assistance.
If you are ever in doubt as to whether service will be one day delayed due to a holiday, set your solid waste, yard waste and recycling out for collection on your regular day. Additional trip charges may apply if you request a collection because you did not set your containers out for collection on the correct day. Call a Solid Waste Customer Service Representative at 798-7529 if you have any questions.
HOME GENERATED SHARPS DISPOSAL PROGRAM
The importance of proper disposal of home generated medical sharps waste is becoming more evident each day as more and more hypodermic needles and other medical waste is found in the waste stream daily by City solid waste workers.
The City of Redlands is proud to be one of only a few cities in California who offer a program to help residents responsibly dispose of needles, syringes, lancets and other sharp objects used in the personal administration of prescription medications at home.
The City of Redlands Home Generated Sharps Disposal Program will accept for proper disposal at no charge, sharps containers from Redlands residents at the Redlands Fire Station #1 only, however, empty containers are available at all locations shown below.
HOW IT WORKS
- Free sharps containers are available to City of Redlands residents ONLY, at Redlands Fire Stations #1, located at 525 E. Citrus Avenue from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. (Proof of residency is required)
- When the container is approximately ¾ full, simply take it to Redlands Fire Station #1, located at 525 E. Citrus Avenue from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. You will be given an empty container in return.
