Redlands Police Department
Community Services Division
Recreation, Sports and Senior Services

The Redlands Police Department employs 150 officers and civilian members, and operates under the policy of Risk Focused Policing (RFP). Risk Focused Policing is a data and results-driven, community-oriented policing strategy which focuses on those factors in a community which places its youth and their families most at-risk for criminal and other problem behaviors. In addition to finding ways to control crime before it happens, the department offers four community policing stations, a Community Center and two Senior Centers. The Police Department is committed to quality of life issues, with regards to Senior Services and Recreation.
Senior Services
The Senior Transportation program currently provides transportation trips for seniors to medical appointments, pharmacies, and grocery stores. The Never Alone Program calls seniors living alone to assure us of their welfare. Participants receive a daily reassurance telephone call from a pre-screened volunteer. Police Officers are also active in providing education and workshops on senior issues.
Recreation
Recreation is a preventive tool that helps control crime before it occurs by providing constructive activities for young people, especially during the after-school hours from 3 to 6 p.m.
The bureau also provides organized youth sports such as basketball, football and baseball for children and teens who might not be able to afford to participate in expensive athletic leagues, especially at the middle-school level where sports programs are limited.
School Resource Officers (SROs), are an integral and effective part of these after school athletics and social events. These programs incorporate these officers as part of the program to teach youth development skills, and athletic involvement that will help develop them for life long learning.
