1/27/2010 - Redlands Community Center presents art gallery, talent show
In celebration of the Redlands Community Center’s first art gallery and talent show, Music Changing Lives and Art Changing Lives presents “For the Youth By The Youth” at the Redlands Community Center, 111 W. Lugonia Ave. Students of the Community Center’s after-school enrichment programs will present an entirely original art gallery and live performance from 5 to 8 p.m., Jan. 28.
Presale tickets are $1. Tickets are $2 at the door. All proceeds will go directly to the Music Changing Lives and Art Changing Lives after-school programs.
Music Changing Lives instructors work with youth in groups of between five and 20 students conducting three-hour interactive music workshops from 4 to 7 p.m. five days a week. These workshops teach the basics of the music industry, including recording, engineering, melody, and genre throughout the year. This is an intense education/mentoring program continuing every day school is open.
Art Changing Lives instructor Christopher Becktel works with students on a weekly basis. Last semester, he conducted weekly, two-hour art workshops Tuesdays and Thursdays with groups of up to 15 children. Workshops covered the fundamentals of art, expression of self and the art industry.
